History

Arbor Springs Water Company was founded in 1926 by Ernest Rehberg to sell the spring water previously used by the Northern Brewery of Ann Arbor since 1872. Prohibition had closed the brewery and water was a natural fit with Rehberg's Artificial Ice Company.

The Ann Arbor area was infamous for its hard and corrosive water. In the early years, water was delivered with ice in a Model T truck. As the company grew, a distilled water product was added and Arbor Springs served the infant Willow Run bomber plant with coolers during their construction and early operations.

Since 1972 Arbor Springs has been privately held by the Judith and William Davis family of Ann Arbor. The company has grown with the Ann Arbor area and the bottled water industry. Now, we primarily serve offices, industrial locations, and homes with coolers, spring and purified water, as well as accessory products. We have expanded to Ferndale and Traverse City to serve more customers throughout Michigan.
